The Great Enlightenment Crusade
  • The Vachik Co-Prosperity Sphere re-discovers the Tempest-Imperial Wormhole and makes several initial incursions discovering the Vachik Exiles descendants of the rebels who lost the Revolt of the Exarchs a milennia earlier. Beyond that the Vachik see at least at first glance a collection of divided alien nations weary from war and reeling after the arrival of the Jorros Swarm. Believing the Tempest Sphere an easy target they began drawing up plans for an invasion.
  • The invasion begins with the Co+Prosperity Sphere attacking and rapidly conquering the Vachik Enclaves of the Exiles. However most of the exile fleet and leadership escapes intact.
  • The Exiles manage to cobble together one of the largest fleets assembled in the Tempest Sphere hiring numerous mercenaries and convincing the Brotherhood of Zaltiel and the Knesp Empire to lend forces to retake the enclaves.
  • The Coalition forces launches a counterattack on the Imperial Fleet ,but are decisively defeated in a massive engagement. Lack of coordination between species and the fickle loyalty of the mercenaries cause the fleet to disintegrate shortly after the battle commenced. While the coalition fleet suffered only moderate losses the fleet itself disintegrated as the Knesp and Zaltiel detachments returned home, and the mercenaries believing the conflict now un winnable deserted.
  • The Exiles who managed to escape the enclaves flee into the galaxy dispersed into small pockets and the remnants of the Enclave military becoming either mercenaries for hire or warlord ruling over petty kingdoms.
  • After the defeat of the Coalition the Enclaves are re-organized into the Tempest Protectorate. The Imperium then turns their attention onto the Knesp Empire, Brotherhood of Zaltiel and the Ark Consortium judging them the most dangerous threats in the Tempest Sphere and launches a series of near simultaneous invasions on each of the polities.
  • Disoriented and confused at the rapid strikes the Vachik gain significant amounts of territory albiet at a high cost with some units with histories going back to the foundation of the Etresi Imperium being shattered and wiped out.
  • As the invasion continues the Vachik learn of the wormhole nexi linking to other spheres and assemble a task force to seize the wormhole junction leading to the Terran Sphere. They attack the junction but find it to be defended by Terrans (not sure which faction or maybe an alliance of multiple Terran Sphere powers).
  • They defeat the Terrans and chase them through the junction to the Rome System (I assume). Literally on the other side of the Galaxy from home the Imperial Forces prepare to launch an additional campaign to conquer the Terran Sphere bolstered by their successes in the Tempest Sphere. Severely underestimating the resolve and power of the human states of the Terran Sphere.
  • After some initial success the Rome System is re-captured and the Imperial Forces in the Tempest Sphere are cut off from reinforcements. Rather than surrender the Commander attempts to break through to the wormhole and escape. He manages to escape however only after losing nearly 2/3rds of the Terran Expedition.
  • After re-turning to the Tempest Sphere the situation has deteriorated with the Anesad managing to throw the Vachik out of the Ark Consortium, and the advance against the Knesp Empire grinding to a standstill. With the advance against the Zaltiel also slowing to a crawl.
  • To make matters worse the polities of the Terran Sphere send their own expedition through the Tempest_Terran Wormhole and enter the fray diverting even more Imperial Forces to yet another front.
  • Outnumbered and overstretched the Imperial Forces are pushed back and their Karathian, Rakani and Rennesian allies collapse completely. Faced with defeat desperate envoys are sent out to the factions hoping to stall for a ceasefire allowing the Empire to shift more forces into the Tempest Sphere. Or secure a peace recognizing their significant gains.
